The Origin of Skimp
SKIMP is a French brand founded in 2009 by two trend-spotters passionate about sports and travel — and for the curious, here’s how it all really began:
"The day before leaving for a business trip to Japan, I decided to wear the beautiful belt I had just received for my birthday.
On the day of departure, during a very tight connection in Frankfurt and yet another security check, I had to take everything off again: shoes, watch, belt. With only 5 minutes left before boarding closed and panicking at the thought of missing my flight, I completely forgot my beloved belt in the security tray…
Sitting there, frustrated, the idea of a metal-free belt made entirely from plastic and designed for travelers suddenly became obvious. No more beeping, no more wasted time getting dressed again — hello to curious looks from fellow travelers and amused smiles from security staff.
And that’s how the SKIMP BELT — the one, the only, the original — was born."
